Martin Odegaard smashes lies about the reason for leaving Real Madrid

In the second half of last season, Martin Odegaard signed for Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid and could perform well. This summer, the “Gunners” spent £30 million (€35 million) to buy the 22-year-old midfielder outright.

Previously, Odegaard tried to impress in the first team of Real but failed. There are reports that the former Stromsgodset member has been unpopular with coach Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Through his personal Instagram page, Odegaard made this clear. He wrote: “Over six and a half years ago, I signed for Real Madrid and had a big dream. Wearing the white shirt, playing at the Bernabeu and playing in the Champions League with the club is something I couldn’t be more proud of.”

“I came to Real Madrid when I was 16 and had the opportunity to learn from the best in the world, my idols. I learned a lot and I enjoyed the journey.”

“I am grateful for all that has passed and all that I have learned. I want to thank everyone who has helped me improve and grow with Real Madrid from the coaches, teammates, medical staff, club members and fans. Thank you!”

The 22-year-old midfielder said goodbye to Real after 6 and a half years of attachment

“I have had good times and bad times, in life and in football. That makes me stronger and better prepared for what’s to come. These days, there is a lot of talk about me and the reason for my departure.”

“I just want to say that most of what they are saying is not true. For me, it’s a pity that the press says things that aren’t true, because a lot of people honestly believe it.”

“I have my reasons, I know what the truth is and what happened. The move to Arsenal was the best thing to do for me. Thanks!”

Last season, Odegaard made 20 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal, contributing two goals. Next Sunday, when Arsenal meet Chelsea in the London derby, the Norwegian cannot participate yet. However, he could attend the Carabao Cup clash with West Brom in the middle of next week.
