Chelsea are likely to continue their pursuit of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde ahead of the summer transfer deadline.
The Blues have made just one high profile signing this summer in Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian is expected to boost the club’s goal tally.
They are now eyeing a new central defender, and Kounde remains the top target despite the hefty valuation for his services.
The Frenchman’s release clause has recently increased from 80 to 90 million euros for the final fortnight of the transfer window.
Despite this, the Blues are pursuing his signature. AS reports that they are still hopeful of signing him in a player-plus-cash agreement.
Kurt Zouma was offered to the La Liga outfit earlier this summer. The Blues were willing to pay around 35 million euros as part of the deal.
Sevilla rejected the proposal, but they could reconsider if a higher fee is paid. Around 50 million euros plus Zouma could convince them to sell.
